Terms of Service

Welcome to PlayAndLearnTech! These terms explain the rules for using our typing practice app.

1. Agreement to Terms

By using PlayAndLearnTech (the “App”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don’t agree, please do not use the App.

2. Use License

You are allowed to use the App for its intended purpose.

3. User Accounts

You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for all activity that happens under your account.

We may suspend or delete your account if you break these rules or if the account is inactive for a long time.

4. Class Rosters You Upload

Teachers and school administrators can create classes by uploading a roster file exported from their school's student information system. If you upload one, you confirm that you are authorized by your school or district to share that roster with us for the purpose of creating student accounts.

We accept only five pieces of information from a roster file: each student's first name, each student's last name, the grade, and the teacher's name and email address. Your file is read in your browser and every other column is discarded there — it is never sent to us, and our servers ignore anything outside that list even if it is sent. Depending on our configuration, the last name may be reduced to a single initial before the account is created.

Two consequences follow, and both matter:

• You do not need to clean up your export first. Extra columns — student IDs, dates of birth, guardian contact details, special education, 504, English-learner or alert flags — are removed automatically.
• You must not rely on us to keep any of it. We are not a system of record for student data. Nothing outside the five fields above is stored, and it cannot be retrieved from us later.

You remain responsible for the accuracy of what you upload, and for removing students who should no longer have accounts. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail of what is discarded.

5. Intellectual Property

All games, designs, and content in the App belong to PlayAndLearnTech. You do not own them just because you use the App.

Any progress or content you create while using the App (like scores and artwork) you allow us to host and display as part of the service.

6. Disclaimers & Liability

The App is provided “as is.” We cannot guarantee it will always be perfect, uninterrupted, or error-free.

To the maximum extent allowed by law, we are not responsible for any indirect damages or losses (such as lost data or lost school time).

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to post inappropriate, offensive, or harmful content. Violations may result in content removal or account suspension.

8. Advertising

PlayAndLearnTech is supported in part by advertising through Google AdSense. Ads are subject to the role-based restrictions described in our Privacy Policy — students and signed-out visitors only ever see restricted, non-personalized (contextual) ads. We block sensitive ad categories and aim to keep all advertising on the App school-safe. This does not change the rule in Section 2 that you may not use the App itself for commercial purposes.

9. Paid Subscriptions & Billing

Some features require a paid subscription. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never receive or store your card details. Prices are shown on the pricing page before you buy, and any change to them applies only to future billing periods.

Renewal and cancellation. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from the pricing page. Cancelling turns off automatic renewal only — you keep full access until the end of the period you have already paid for, and that period is not refunded.

Changing plans. When you move to a higher-priced plan, we credit the full price of your current plan against the new one, regardless of how much of your term remains, and a new billing period begins that day. Moving to a lower-priced plan takes effect at the end of your current period; the difference is not refunded.

10. Refunds

Subscription fees are not refundable. This includes unused time after a cancellation, partial billing periods, and plan downgrades. If you believe you have been charged in error, contact us within 30 days of the charge and we will investigate in good faith; any refund outside the sales-tax situation below is at our discretion.

Sales tax for exempt organizations. If your organization is exempt from sales tax, you can submit your exemption certificate to us for review. If we approve it after you have already been charged sales tax, we refund the sales tax for your current billing period to your original payment method. Only the tax is refunded — the subscription fee itself is not. To avoid being charged tax at all, submit your certificate before you subscribe.

We review certificates ourselves; nothing is approved automatically. We will email you when a decision is made, usually within 2–7 business days.

11. Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Please read our Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms.

12. Changes to the App

We may update, add, or remove features at any time.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, USA.
